Dodgers LHP Kershaw to miss next start (AP)
Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw will miss his next start after bruising his right shoulder when he ran into the outfield wall during batting practice. The 21-year-old Kershaw hurt himself Sunday at Dodger Stadium while trying to catch a fly ball. The club announced Kershaw's injury Monday before opening a series at Arizona.

Grieving Schoeneweis returns to Arizona (AP)
Scott Schoeneweis returned to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday after spending four weeks on the disabled list because of depression following his wife's death. Schoeneweis' wife, Gabrielle, was found dead in the master bedroom of the couple's suburban Fountain Hills, Ariz., home May 20.

Sanchez returns to Giants from DL (AP)
Freddy Sanchez is back in the San Francisco Giants' lineup after a stint on the disabled list. Sanchez was activated from the 15-day DL Monday and in the lineup playing second base and batting second for San Francisco's series opener with the San Diego Padres. He missed 19 games with a strained left shoulder.

Bucs clinch 17th straight losing season (AP)
The Chicago Cubs assured the Pittsburgh Pirates of a record-breaking 17th consecutive losing season, getting two homers from Derrek Lee and an effective start from Ted Lilly while winning 4-2 on Monday. By losing their 10th in 11 games, the Pirates will finish below .500, just as they have every season since 1993.

Jays’ Hill leaves game as wife in labor (AP)
Blue Jays second baseman Aaron Hill left Monday's game against Minnesota after three innings upon learning that his wife, Elizabeth, had gone into labor with the couple's first child. An All-Star for the first time this season, Hill came in batting .284 with a team-leading 31 homers and 94 RBIs.
