Cuddyer, Kubel HRs lift Twins by Indians (AP)
Michael Cuddyer's tying three-run homer rescued the Minnesota Twins in the eighth inning, ruining a fine start for Cleveland by Jeremy Sowers in a 6-3 victory over the Indians on Monday night. Sowers stymied the Twins with his jerky left-handed delivery and left with a 3-0 lead after seven innings.

Cards skip Smoltz’s turn in rotation (AP)
The St. Louis Cardinals skipped John Smoltz's turn in the rotation Monday night after he complained of shoulder tendinitis two days earlier. Leyland: Ordonez will hit pact incentive (AP)
Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland said Magglio Ordonez will reach the plate appearance incentive in his contract that will give the outfielder an $18 million option for next season. Twins 1B Morneau, DH Kubel not in lineup (AP)
The Minnesota Twins are holding Justin Morneau and Jason Kubel out again because of injuries. Neither was in the lineup Monday against the Cleveland Indians after sitting Sunday against Oakland. Kubel was scratched then because of a sore neck, and Morneau has a strained lower back stemming from a head-first slide into first base Friday.
