Braves make offer to OF Damon (AP)

A person familiar with the negotiations tells The Associated Press that the Atlanta Braves have made an offer to free agent outfielder Johnny Damon. The person spoke Wednesday on condition of anonymity because no agreement has been reached. Atlanta's offer is believed to be for one year and include deferred money.

Mariners ink Colome to minor league deal (AP)

The Seattle Mariners have signed right-hander Jesus Colome to a minor league contract with an invitation to their spring training camp. The 32-year-old Colome appeared in 21 games last season with the Washington Nationals and Milwaukee Brewers. He will compete to be a veteran setup reliever for closer David Aardsma.

Giants give Wellemeyer minor league deal (AP)

The San Francisco Giants and free agent right-hander Todd Wellemeyer agreed Wednesday to a minor league contract. The 31-year-old, a 13-game winner for the St. Louis Cardinals in 2008, will get the opportunity to compete for the No. 5 starter spot. Cardinals INF Ryan has wrist surgery (AP)

St. Louis Cardinals infielder Brendan Ryan has had arthroscopic surgery on his right wrist. Dr. Steven Shin operated on Tuesday in Los Angeles, the team said Wednesday.
