Inspired by the name of their original city, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim was established in 1961. They belong to the Western Division of MLB’s American League and play at the Angel Stadium of Anaheim . The ‘Halos’ as they are called informally by their fans, had quite a compatible start in the league having the highest winning percentage ever for a team in its first year in the league. However they entered a bad patch in the early 70s which continued almost through the decade ending with the Halos winning the West Division title in ’79 and then again in ’82 and ’86.
They’ve kept a consistent record after that and finally clinched the World Series Title in 2002, the year when they also got a wild card berth. They won three more West Division titles in 2004, ’05 and ’07.
